We Sure Could Use a Year of “Manful Living” in 2014!

Manful Living!

Manful Living!

From the forward of JFK’s Profiles in Courage:

This book tells the stories of men who in their own time recognized what needed to be done—and did it. President Kennedy was fond of quoting Dante that “the hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in a time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”
If there is a lesson from the lives of the men John Kennedy depicts in this book, if there is a lesson from his life and from his death, it is that in this world of ours none of us can afford to be lookers-on, the critics standing on the sidelines.
Thomas Carlyle wrote, “The courage we desire and prize is not the courage to die decently but to live manfully.”

One could argue the world’s a better place since 1956…what would you say?
• Christians are being systemically slaughtered in Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Nigeria…while our President frets over the name of a football team.
• Americans are being systemically lied to on Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, Surveillance, the Economy, the IRS and Wall Street by our President.
• Americans are being divided and pitted against one another through the implementation of bogus “Hate Laws”.
• No one is accountable!
• Americans have forgotten what it means to be an American.
• Individual Liberty & Freedom are on the brink of extinction!
• Our friends no longer trust us, and our enemies no longer fear us!

Forget about “lookers-on”! The majority of my own family members don’t bother “LOOKING”! They willfully accept the marginalization of those who do as a buffer to their own pain…and Hell, as Dante put it! The perfect Orwellian recipe if ever there were one! To observe 2014 rather than live it manfully with purpose will be the most solid foundation of serfdom imaginable for generations to follow…

To my Democrat and Liberal friends:
Imagine yourselves suddenly shaken and stirred from a delightful respite by Jack Kennedy with wings screaming “Snap out of it!” …Geesh!

    Merry Christmas From Alt-Market
    by Brandon Smith
    24 December 2013

We live in perhaps the most interesting and most dangerous of days. Many people, in light of the overwhelming nature of our national circumstances, might seek to dismiss or neglect the traditions inherent in the holidays. However, it is actually in the worst of times that our traditions are needed. They keep us grounded in the necessary foundations of the past, and give us insight and solidarity as we move into tomorrow. As much as the mainstream face of Christmas has been mutilated, the underlying values still remain. If people sought the kind of goodwill everyday that they tend only to consider during the holidays, the planet would be a far better place.
At Alt-Market, we recognize better than many that the ailments of our society cannot be solved with good intentions and optimism alone. We understand that there is a great conflict in motion between men who want power, and men who want freedom. We understand that this conflict will probably turn violent. But, in the face of inevitable struggle, we also realize that it is of the utmost importance that the millions of us on the side of liberty retain our highest sense of humanity. Christmas, at its core, is a representation of the best in human beings. [(← no, it’s not. It’s about Jesus being born, and our praising & thanking Him —and remembering that He came to save us!! His intention, in being born, was to become the Christ —the Savior for all of mankind. Because we cannot do it ourselves. We —the entire world!!— needs the Savior to be our King; His principles and guidance to be supreme …because Man, in all of our “good intentions”, cannot save ourselves, nor can we create an enduring, Just society: Because Man —unless & until each soul repents and is saved from each human’s intrinsic sinfulness— is Fallen and sinful …thus, there will always be enough of those whose ambition it is to be greedy and sadistic, lusting for all power and wealth —to the point of taking everything possible away from others, including freedom, property, happiness, a decent standard of living …in a word, to eventually make pitiful, abject slaves out of everyone. Globally. )] It represents the exact opposite of what the corrupt establishment would like to see in our society today. It is what we must become in order to get through the looming storm intact. [(← that is not possible unless & until every soul on earth is transformed by Christ! My prayer: “Holy Spirit, come and overwhelmingly make yourself known to every person on this earth!” So… pray that everyone you know —pray by name— comes to a Saving Knowledge (personal relationship with) Jesus Christ! Societies are most Happy and Just, whose government is Christian; that cannot be the case without the citizenry from which government personnel emanate are Christian —not In Name Only, but Truly. )]
2014, we believe, holds a high possibility of dangerous and climactic developments. [(← yes; but, Jesus —the King of Kings, to whom all Authority has been given by the Father— may well be directed by the Father to [temporarily] disrupt the evil plans of the current PTB, and for a while set Peace upon the world, in order to fulfill His time of Great Harvest of souls. Perfect Peace & Justice won’t be permanent until Jesus returns (see the Book of the Revelation in the Bible) …but such a time has been prophesied many times to be forthcoming. Keep the Faith! Be wise, be prudent …but, Keep the Faith! )] It will not be a quiet year. For now, though, we hope that you will take a moment during these holidays to reflect, to spend time with those you care about, and to find some joy in an otherwise bewildering world. [(← hear, hear! )] There will always be the threat of darkness in the life of man; [(← hear, hear! )] but conversely, there will also always be light. [(← yes!! )] Which one prevails from day to day, generation to generation, depends on our ability to remember, even in the most dire of scenarios, what we truly stand for.

That’s nice and all, but it’s not what Christmas is about.
Christmas is about the birth of mankind’s redeemer; the one who came to bear the sins of the world. [(← hear, hear! )]
Jesus Christ is our passover lamb. He is not a ‘tradition’ – he is a living sacrifice.
To tell people that they should take stock in nostalgia and goodwill would be to point them in the wrong direction.
It is only the Christ in us that keeps the darkness at bay in this fallen world. There is nothing that we can do for ourselves – or our country – that does not stem directly from this truth. [(← hear, hear! )]
    • You say:
“We understand that there is a great conflict in motion between men who want power, and men who want freedom”.
    God says:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places”. [(← hear, hear! )]
    • You say:
“Which one prevails from day to day, generation to generation, depends on our ability to remember, even in the most dire of scenarios, what we truly stand for”.
    I say:
No, it depends on the saving power of God. [(← hear, hear!!! )]

I, for one, find it more than interesting that a friend of God such as you “appear” to be would criticize a man for so clearly pointing us towards the Grace of God in his Christmas message. I don’t know Brandon personally. Perhaps he’s more Jefferson than Page…but I’m not sure how deserving any of us would be of God’s “saving power” without doing all in our own power to defend and protect Liberty. [(← because everything we have, everything we obtain by our own hand …is derivative of blessings from God! You discover this when you are in dire circumstances that you cannot change by your own power …and suddenly, you see salvation from that circumstance (think of the sudden fog that hid Washington and his troops from the enemy) —and you suddenly understand that it’s from God! …whether from something just appearing from nowhere (like a sudden fog) …or from a Christian (or even a non-Christian) miraculously providing because “The Lord told me to give this to you.” (which happens to Christians —even in the middle of airports, by total strangers!) …the Love of God is demonstrated to those whom He loves. Miraculously. Including by His putting people from His Church together. )]

“but I’m not sure how deserving any of us would be of God’s “saving power” without doing all in our own power to defend and protect Liberty”.
Actually, all that is required to partake in God’s mercy is to accept the propitiation for your sins, which was the life of Jesus Christ.
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”. Romans 10:9 [(← and what’s more important? salvation from temporal woes, or eternal salvation of your soul? )]

    @Sergio
The message is meant for all Alt-Market readers. I have no interest in attempting to convert anyone. I think most Christians understand the core of what I am talking about above, [(← yes, but the Reason for the Season is Jesus Christ; not Santa Claus nor simply being nice to each other —nor anything else! And that is what Sergio was pointing out, as having been left out of your statement, Brandon; and what needed to be corrected/clarified. )] and so do many non-Christians. The power of Christmas time is that we ALL feel the same inherent search for goodwill, regardless of our personal religious beliefs. [(← no; it most certainly is not. That is a perspective borne of a secular worldview. The Power of Christmas is Christ!! And His message, that He came to save the entire world from its sins …if they’ll have Him. Obviously, a large majority don’t get that point.
Note: Spinning things such that a humanistic message (be “good” to your neighbor and the passerby —which in of itself, there is nothing wrong) trumps the clear message & true meaning of Christ’s Coming, and that the humanistic message is somehow better, and that clarifications & refutations of the humanistic message are somehow “BS”, not valid, intolerant, etc. …that’s just simply not logical nor true. Which makes the humanistic message a lie. And making a false statement publicly… allows and requires a frank rebuttal (no sense beating around the bush, or sugar-coating the Truth) —including pointing out that that the lie is a lie. )] I think that, by itself, is proof enough of something greater out there…

That’s cool. And I probably shouldn’t be harsh where someone is just wishing a Merry Christmas. [(← don’t back off from stating the Truth. That’s a mistake.)]
    Best wishes.

    Jesus offended
    written by gardengritty , December 26, 2013
Jesus Christ offended the masses when He, God in the flesh, came to earth to save mankind. Yet, like so many today who wish to kill the message of Christ, it is no different than centuries ago. [(← hear, hear! )]
We cannot do anything in our own power that is not filtered through the hands of the Almighty first. [(← hear, hear!! )] And if we think we can, we are very sadly mistaken. [(← exactly )] Pride always goes before the fall.

    written by shutupnsing , December 27, 2013
It appears I may have been harsh myself in a possible misread of Sergio judging by the thumbs down I drew…sorry about that. 😦 [(← conciliation all around, huh. Well, ain’t that sweet. …and what of the Truth? What about Christ and His message and His reason for coming to earth in human form —not to mention dying for us …what about that? Seems like those truths are about to get lost in all this sucking-up to each other… Sad. Seems a bit Cowardly, doesn’t it? If the Truth won’t be fought for on a blog …what about when the jack-booted NWO thugs come knocking at your door, demanding fealty to the humanistic worldview? )]

For those of you scratching your heads, Rich picked this conversation up over here http://www.alt-market.com/articles/1897-merry-christmas-from-alt-market I’m not sure you understand “sucking up” to Sergio who was articulating your same point, was because I may have mistook him for a troll.

I really appreciate your thoughts here.

My heart when I first read Brandon’s post was to push back against the secularization and “feel good” message he had posted. In my heart, all of things I wrote about Christ are true.

When Jesus came, he was full of grace and full of truth. Sometimes, for us who are in love with God’s truth, sometimes we can forget that there is another person on the other end of the conversation, and steamroll them with our knowledge of the truth.

Jesus never did that. He always applied the truth in perfect harmony with the grace of God’s love, which means he always considered the person as well.

After posting some of my thoughts, I came to regret going in with guns blazing at Brandon. He had posted a message wishing people a merry Christmas. It was his gift to his readers; what he had to give from his heart. Who was I to judge its quality?

I do not back down from the truth that I wrote, but at the same time, I do back down from rejecting Brandon’s well wishes for the season. Would Jesus have done it the same way? I can’t help but think he would have found a better way, to both accept Brandon’s tidings yet still illustrate God’s truth.

This is an area of my walk where I am admittedly trying to grow.

Thank you again for your thoughts and editorials above – I find them to be very valuable.
