Riding the Beast

Who can ride the Beast?

Who can ride the Beast?

I am part of a gathering of Christian men who come together periodically in wonderful fellowship and prayerful reflection. Although I’m sure there are many Liberal Christians, our group leans more Libertarian and Conservative. Our get-togethers begin and end with prayer and lately have included a wonderful meal put on by our gracious hosts. But the main course is the serious and often intense discussion about the world around us, which follows the meal.

I suppose it would be accurate to refer to us a group of Christian Preppers…to be perfectly honest. We talk about everything from canning food and water purification, to emergency communications, self-defense and home security. While each of us realizes that an event or series of events that will test our skills in these areas is less about “if” and more about “when”…we are far from united in how we are responding, and what we are doing to prepare.

The wonderful thing about our group is our diversity of background, skill-sets and professional experiences. We are pilots, teachers, corrections officers, artists, farmers, pastors, hunters, counselors, musicians, chefs, brokers, builders, financial advisors, telecommunications, currency and insurance experts. This week all but 3 of us were able to attend, including a newcomer who brings his years of experience in the currencies and precious metals markets. And here’s where it gets interesting…here’s where God speaks to me so clearly and vividly, I can see his lips moving!

After dinner, one member of our group wanted to move our evening’s discussion in the direction of the capital markets and economy. Another member voiced his objection to the topic and after fifteen minutes or so into the discussion, actually excused himself and departed. The remaining members trudged forward into the waters of a very deep and dark lagoon. How could it be anything other than tense? After all, it is a body of water to the mind that both creates and destroys…where no one is able to see clearly beneath the surface. Surely there’s a way to catch the next wave and avoid the wipe-outs…others are doing it! Here’s where we found ourselves somewhat divided. The one member, who confessed to being “crushed” by his move in silver, seemed somewhat obtuse to the newcomer’s explanation of the manipulation taking place in the precious metals markets…this, in spite of knowing the newcomer’s background and expertise.

The other revealing point in our discussion came when the same member who steered us towards the lagoon also brought up Jonathan Cahn’s book, The Harbinger…which I happened to have read after watching Cahn’s “Inauguration Speech”. Interestingly, the same member who seemed so ready to climb back up onto the same beast that had just thrown him was also the one most ready to dismiss Cahn, out of hand, as little more than a book-selling charlatan!

Herein lies our “grist for the mill”! We are living in two worlds! I suppose you can say that even in the community of Christians, we are the Orthodox and Un-Orthodox when you get right down to it. If we examine the capital markets objectively, considering the massive corruption and unchecked power of the JP Morgan’s, the Libor scandal, the sheer lawlessness in the broad-daylight-theft of sacrosanct “segregated” customer funds at MF Global, and on and on…then we know as people of integrity, there is no longer integrity in the markets. Where is the Ask & Bid without integrity? And we should realize as Christians, there is no longer morality in the markets! Why is this realization alone, not enough for us? At the end of the day isn’t it really all about power…the power to create illusion?

If you and I were to happily walk into a room of 98 depressed people, how long would it take for us to become a room of 100 depressed people? David Ickes says, “The more that power centralizes, the more power there is to centralize quicker.” What is fascinating to me is that there is a building tension between the rate of centralization and the corresponding rate of our division. One of us walked away during the meeting and another considered walking away after the meeting. The same beast that has poisoned the well of our children’s education, driven us apart, usurped our government, supplied our enemies, attacked our friends, defiled our Faith and debased our currency, is a beast we somehow think we can ride?

Conclusion

Gandhi said, “An error does not become Truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does Truth become error because nobody will see it…Even if you are a minority of one, the Truth is still the Truth.”

There was a time when the orthodox, unorthodox, sinner and saint could peacefully coexist in a live-and-let-live kind of way. That time has passed…We now know that the evil behind the nice in “coexistence”, “multiculturalism”, “social justice”, “equality” and “hate crimes” and the beast controlling and manipulating the markets is one and the same, do we not? Does it matter whether that illusion collapses in on itself today, a year or five years from now? Are we or are we not our brother’s keeper?

If we are living in two worlds…whether we think of it as physical and spiritual or Truth and the hologram-illusion described by David Icke; wouldn’t a more appropriate and useful definition of coexistence be our own relationship with both worlds? For example, there are some who choose to go completely “off the grid”, while others buy-in to the illusion heart and soul. Isn’t there a way for us to coexist in both worlds on our own terms…until we are ready, independent and strong enough to finally starve the beast?

Tomorrow’s Tune-up ~ “What it means to be my brother’s keeper”

 ~Psalms 23:1-6~

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Amen.
