The Language of Jesus is the Voice of God

Rejoice!

Rejoice!

Looking for the right message to fit this holy day, I came across this remarkable story of a courageous nun. “Sister Hatune learned to speak 13 languages…” caught my eye and as I read, I knew where God was leading me “…but none make her more proud than Aramaic.” The language of Jesus…

Before you get on with the business of present-openings and such, I’m going to ask you to read this nun’s story. I will warn you ahead of time that it is an extremely difficult story to read, but you must read every painful word to understand the message. Many of us here in the West feel like we are running a darker and colder gauntlet each year at this time to make it back home to be with our families. We try to warm ourselves by the fire with old favorites like It’s a Wonderful Life, White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street…knowing deep down we’re letting the real miracle slip away.

The message is this; God will only tell us so many times in so many ways. He is telling us through Sister Hatune that the Kingdom of Herod is here and now because WE made it so! The same evil that has coveted the heart of man since the dawn of time is covering the earth now as it did in the days of Herod. The blood soaked blade that butchered the young boys of Mosul is the same blade by the same command that slaughtered every boy under the age of two in Bethlehem over two millennia ago…for the exact same reason!

See your common man this Christmas day…struggling under the yoke of oppressive tax and intrusive laws and regulations forced by the unrelenting state. What has changed in 2000 years? Cuomo, Obama and Herod are the same man in different clothes in different times. They fear the same prophecy today. They could not kill the baby then; they will not keep him away now. Such is the cycle of earthly power; insecurity begets fearful gnashing begets jealous rage becomes murderous lust in the face of Truth; from the lowest low to the highest King…on this day!

Let your hearts be glad for what is already known to them. The language of Jesus may have been Aramaic, but the voice of God is without veil of pretense and ambition. It is clothed in the modest cloth of soft and soothing wisdom, universally known to every ear at birth; shining brightly from every mother’s heart.

Merry Christmas Dear Friend! Can you hear it?

Merry Christmas Chip! I met a Syrian born/raised  Catholic Air Force chaplain while in Guantanamo years ago. His last name was Ayoub, a very conservative guy who like guns and the freedom owning them in the U S represented. He was raised in Syria and was a little known denomination here, First Church Of The Word, Antioch, the oldert organized Christian sect I believe. He spoke Aramaic and always did so during the consecration in the mass. Very interesting guy who had much to say about Islam and how the press was painting a very inacurate, non-threateing portrain of Islam. He had a lifetime of stories about growing up a Catholic in an Islamic state, none of which were pleasant. I hope you are enjoying the day even though you didn’t actually take the day off as evidenced by your posting! Warmest regards always,Marty

Merry Christmas to you too Marty. I can’t imagine what it must be like to see your homeland in literal flames.
