The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ The Slippery Slope of Mice and Men

“Mobilizing the Body of Christ”

“I said we are going to stop it (Deep State Coup), because we are going to mobilize the body of Christ to pray.” ~ Pastor Rodney Brown

There’s a scene in the movie Winston Churchill Walking with Destiny (narrated by Ben Kingsley with timely and wonderful focus on Dunkirk) where Churchill’s Granddaughter describes Churchill’s pre-war political exile in Chartwell, his beautiful country estate in Kent. As I am writing these words, I am gazing out on the magnificent gardens in my own exile thinking, as I’m sure Churchill was, of the calm before the storm. What Churchill was able to see fomenting across the channel long before most all of his own countrymen, those of us in the Liberty Movement are seeing happen to our friends across the Atlantic…while most of our countrymen and women slumber. It is beyond heartbreaking to see the ancestors of Churchill’s Brits who so heroically fought off and survived Hitler’s vicious onslaught, surrender their freedom without so much as a single bullet or a bruise. In another scene, Churchill is dealing with Lord Halifax and the appease, agree, and capitulate crowd, shortly after he replaces Chamberlain as Prime Minister. Winning over Chamberlain, he convinces the rest that “striking any capitulative agreement with Hitler would be a slippery slope, from which we would never gain a hold.”

I don’t need to commission a study to tell you that the vast majority of souls that risked it all to rescue the British expeditionary and allied forces from Dunkirk were God-fearing ones, because that’s who we were. Now, as another even darker storm approaches, life has bred us into a different breed…a breed with a far less discerning eye for slippery slopes. David Carlin would point to  The Gravitational Pull of Atheism  to help us better understand the how and why. He writes, “It’s an easy slide from one of these to the next – from liberal religion to deism, from deism to agnosticism, and from agnosticism to full-blown atheism. It is the slipperiest slope. And so, when Christians decide to “liberalize” their faith, there’s a good chance that their children or grandchildren will end up in atheism.”

When Churchill was finally granted the power to save his country, he feared it was too late. And as we find ourselves already half-way down the slipperiest of slopes of all, in the jaws of Carlin’s gravitational pull, I fear the same and worse because of mice and men. We are far more of the former than the latter. The popular book “Who Moved My Cheese” from years ago contrasts the Dunkirk heroes with the me, me, me mice of today. The consequence is the Grand Canyon of civic divides we may not survive, at least not in a sense worth living for. We’ve become a nation of self-interest. Black Lives Matter puts their race before country, LGBT puts their sex before country, Feminists put their bodies before country, Liberals put their Liberalism before country as the Soros-backed-Progressives (#1 sponsor of the slippery slope) promote the slippery slope as if it were an amusement park, handing out free tickets to those foolish enough to climb aboard.

If you visit my FB Page ( https://www.facebook.com/chip.murray1/ ) you will find my post of the Trump Military Trans Ban 6 posts down under my heading “A Return to Sanity!” Well, as it turns out, I’d set the perfect mouse trap…catching “Queer Trans” Will and his furry friends. Note the emotional temperament and self-righteous indignation of the mice. They not only walk willfully (sorry) into the trap, they prove that President Trump, on advice from his generals, acted in the best interests of America by imposing the ban, reversing the order of the most anti-military president in American History…thank God!

President Trump may not be a Winston Churchill, but history will come to judge his presidency as a miraculous gift from God in this, our darkest hour. In his address to the National Boy Scout Jamboree this week, he addressed them as “men” and taught them about “momentum”. In his own Churchillian moment, he is turning the ship from the slippery slope against all odds, back to the hand of Providence and the God who made us, that we might indeed yet live our finest hour.

“Whither thou goest, I will go. And where thou lodgest, I will lodge. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God, My God, even to the end.” Harry Hopkins’ toast to Winston Churchill one year before Roosevelt succeeded in bringing the American People to the rescue.
