The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ Of Fear Itself

Democrat Mid-Term Hopes

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself. ~ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I have surprised myself by the numbers of times I have found myself having to summon the courage to overcome my fears, over the past several years. But I’ll admit I’m even more surprised at how few seem willing to do the same. As it turns out, I happened to be reading the Genesis story of Jacob and Esau, the sons of Isaac this week. As you might remember, Jacob stole his older brother’s birthright by deception, essentially disinheriting his brother Esau. Twenty years later, he humbled himself before God in prayer and returned home to face the brother who had sworn to kill him. Jesus Himself faced fear so great in Gethsemane, his facial capillaries burst causing him to sweat blood. Think about the pain of rejection you suffered when the greatest love(s) of your life kicked you to the curb. He who loved every single human life infinitely more than that was about to take on the hatred, ridicule, scourging, torture and murder by those whom He loved most…for/while saving them! It is incomprehensible.

Jacob found it…Jesus conquered it and more I tell myself as I’m off with my Oath Keeper brothers and sisters to peacefully defend our Constitution against the naked aggression of masked professors, Communist, and Anarchist thugs armed with batons, bats, bike locks…and hatred in their hearts. They would be rightfully known as our “domestic enemies” if it were not for our greatest enemy, Fake News. But such is not the case, which is why there are precious few of us willing to stand up to them. And by standing up to them, I’m not referring only to the streets in Berkeley, Ferguson, and Portland…I’m talking about confronting them in the sleepy hollows of Warwick as (your real name) rather than hiding behind computer screens and the curtain of pseudonym. I assure you that if more of us in more places had been willing to stand up and say more for more years, there would be no riots in Ferguson…no fires at Berkeley. But for fear of fear itself, too many of us allowed the radicals and academic hacks, all absent the slightest modicum of character or integrity, to regulate our thought and expression…as we sat and continue to sit in silence. And what is silence, but passive approval, consent, and submission?

How did we get here? How is it that so few of us cannot look away from what so many of you whom we loved and adored cannot or will not face? Do you not see the classic bully/bullied paradigm most all of us overcame playing out again? Sure, the bully is bigger…but so are we! Something very powerful is born in us when we stand up to evil. And conversely something dies when we ignore, avoid, relegate, and/or obfuscate that which was ours to eliminate…leaving the bigger mess for others to deal with. I had a man who stood a good six inches taller than me come up to “get in my face” after I had spoken my mind at a public meeting. His movement was aggressive as he attempted to use his size to intimidate me. It didn’t work for a number of reasons, none of which were physical. I simply stood my ground and looked him square in the eye. When we were younger we had to physically overcome the bully. Now it’s much easier to do with confidence and faith alone…and of course, the wisdom to know when to walk away.

The recent showdown outside Democrat Congresswoman Mad Max Waters’ LA office this past week was a perfect example of such wisdom. The entire world got a very good look at what has become of the Democrat Party. The swooshing sound you may have heard was thousands upon thousands more of the #WalkAway movement running for the exit doors! Our Oath Keeper protest of the NYU professor went much differently in New York because, when you stop and think about it, New York and California are like two completely different countries. The Northeastern United States is much more Conservative than the West Coast United States. The latter is a Socialist train wreck hellbent on Venezuelan and European-like outcomes where they are actually banning bible-reading on church property now. South LA is a hell-hole, and San Francisco has literally become a public cesspool.

In the end, our New York protest was a pleasant surprise. It reminded me somewhat of Jacob who returned home in good faith prepared to die and found his brother’s embrace instead. We found kids starving for the truth. As I said to my brothers and sisters on the West Coast after things worked out as well as they did, quoting Page’s letter to Jefferson: “We have an angel in the whirlwind.” Of course, there were enough of us then who chose not to look away, but to do what they knew had to be done. I believe that it is in our National DNA to do the same this time around…in the same relative numbers. And we most certainly will…by God. You?

WOW…(How God works) My path seems to have merged with Nicholas Senz “The late Cardinal Francis George may have had it exactly right when he said, “I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.” https://www.thecatholicthing.org/2018/07/22/the-courage-of-our-convictions/

You are speaking the truth Chip, and with courage. It encourages me greatly. I am struggling with the fear of the left. The constant brutality by the left in New York has made me fearful to do simple things like wear my Trump tee shirt or serve guests with my Trump Inaugural glass cups. Each time I stand up for my principles in any way, I must pray for strength first. People have become unhinged and very physically and verbally aggressive when you disagree with them (your blog shows you have experienced that too). The Democratic Party has descended into a bunch of brown shirt thugs! They are leading us towards anarchy.

This quote in the Senz piece says it all D, “The late Cardinal Francis George may have had it exactly right when he said, ‘I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.’” My love of God, and faith in Jesus Christ is my banner, shield, and sword.
