The Sunday Morning Tune-up ~ The “Itching Ears”

Itching for the Truth

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth, and wander into myths. As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry. ~ 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Its an amazingly refreshing and rejuvenating experience to gather in the company of nearly two hundred pairs of ears tuned to the truth that is found in what those gathered know to be the Word of God, as we did last Saturday in Warwick for the Choose Life Parade. Conversely, by the time these words are read in today’s SMTU, some of us will have attended a presentation at the Wisner Library in the same Village of Warwick, aimed at the “itching ear” by the “teachers to suit their own likings”, as they attempt to nourish the lost with the Greatest Myth of All.

Last week we focused on the inside-out of fear. “The peace that Jesus gives is never engineered by circumstances on the outside.” And yet, where do we all cling? Think about what is happening in China, where the entire society is monitored and controlled by an “algorithm” developed (by Google) to provide a social behavior credit score…on every single one of 1.4 billion plus Chinese souls. Every pleasure, and every pain, every want and need, every thought and desire, inexorably linked to a consciousness outside of their own…and apart from God. Witnessing the behavior of a certain political party here at home, is there any doubt this Orwellian madness was meant for us as well? In fact, isn’t Political-Correctness (sanctioned by the same political party) a soft-tyranny version…a sort of dry-run prep for the very real chains of hard-tyranny that imprison every single soul in China?

I can tell you, as a faithful servant to one King, that the stage has been carefully set here at home for a new Exodus, an unholy Exodus, from who we are meant to be, to who they want us to be. In every social/ethnic circle…even in my own greater Christian community, I can hear it, see it, and feel it in the expressions of certain “rock star” shepherds, and their disciples here in Orange County, tempering every word and deed to appease the Progressive “itching ear” in Albany.

So yesterday I wake up to a message from one of my Christian Oath Keeper brothers in Dublin California, asking us to pray for them as they prepare to take on the LGBTQ-bought-and-paid-for town officials looking to run up the rainbow flag officially declaring the month of May Gay Pride Month…just as I am reading the latest update on the Catholic Hierarchy playing hide-the-carrot with the greatest GAY/PEDOPHILE SEX SCANDAL in history. I started the day in California. By my second cup of coffee I was in Rome. And now, just after breakfast, I am in a roomful of lesbians and transgendered children and adults, and Progressive/Liberals in the Wisner Library Community Room here in Warwick NY to watch reality, science, biology, and truth get twisted into one giant, shiny, bright, and irresistible rainbow pretzel. I attempted to ask legitimate questions at the end but was quickly shut down. My friends and I agreed that, besides truth, the energy most lacking in the room was the masculine. Zero, Zip, Nada…not the slightest trace. Just a roomful of itching ears.

The best gift the Son of God had was His Holy Manhood, and He gave that as a love-gift to God that He might use it as an Atonement for the World. ~ Oswald Chambers, The Beauty of Self-Denial

                                                   In a world without Men

Targeting the “itching ear” of adults is one thing. Preying on the “itching ear” of children is quite another. Reading the confessions of a former Texas Planned Parenthood owner/executive chilled me to the very bone marrow of my being:

Everett earned a commission for every abortion in addition to a share of the fees charged by each clinic. She says she sold abortion and made big bucks off of the “cash cow” of abortion. A new abortion clinic, she said at the annual Rose Dinner for the National March for Life in Ottawa, would make enough money to pay for itself in a single month…She says that the programs aim to teach children that talking to their parents about sex is uncomfortable and then they offer to be the people the children turn to for support.

                                                             Calling ALL Men!

“Traditional masculinity” was recently deemed “harmful” by the American Psychological Association (APA). Among the traits it directly condemned were “emotional stoicism” and “self-reliance.” ~ What it Means to Be a Man

Many young men are puzzled these days about the meaning of manhood, perplexed by what they hear in a classroom, learn online, or see in their friends. They want to work, to love, to do good in the world, to emulate other men. Unfortunately, maps for these destinations seem in short supply. ~  Ten Guides For Turning Boys Into Men

A Being who has power to put something into a man and keep him free from panic, even in the midst of the awful terror of war. The basis of panic is always cowardice. “You must lay your account with war, with hatred, and with death.” ~ Oswald Chambers, The Basis of Panic

If

By Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you                                                                             Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;                                                                                          If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,                                                                        But make allowance for their doubting too:                                                                                     If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,                                                                                  Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,                                                                                            Or being hated don’t give way to hating,                                                                                      And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;                                                                  If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim,                                                                      If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster                                                                                         And treat those two impostors just the same;                                                                                 If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken                                                                    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,                                                                                    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,                                                                      And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings                                                                            And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,                                                                                    And lose, and start again at your beginnings,                                                                              And never breathe a word about your loss:                                                                                      If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew                                                                            To serve your turn long after they are gone,                                                                                  And so hold on when there is nothing in you                                                                          Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,                                                                          Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,                                                                          If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,                                                                                If all men count with you, but none too much:                                                                                If you can fill the unforgiving minute                                                                                          With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,                                                                                      Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,                                                                              And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!
